Social media is actually a nice platform for individuals to share information. Although social media allows everybody to share information and this has changed communication norms within an organisation. CPA UC San Diego University Communications and Public Affairs
How? you may ask yourself that question, well
in most cases things especially negative things that are shared by individuals
on social media go viral, and creating the crisis management plan within a
short period of time is mostly difficult and challenging.
Fact
remains most relationships and friendships don’t last anymore because of things
that are shared on social media, why?
A
lot is expected from you to show your loyalty and if those expectations are not
met relationships can be damaged.
With all that been said how more will social
media destroy the organizations or a brand if any individual decides to share a
negative message about that organization or the brand?

I believe most people still remember the story of this two students at UP who
decided to go to a party painting themselves black, then posted the picture on
social media. The picture went viral and this was seen by the black community
as racist and degrading, without the actual investigation on the whole
situation by the journalist the Universities image was completely destroyed but
through the investigations done by the journalists the universities image was
restored.
- Journalist gives any organization a chance to reveal their true self.
- Before publishing any new story they first need to do a research or investigation for that story
- They provide relevant news for their stakeholders hence there is news about the economy, politics, and entertainment, industrial and business news.
- They try to remain objective and therefore most news will not have personal agendas
- They also have to be ethical at all times because they are charged responsible for anything they post or share with the public
- They ask relevant questions to the relevant sources

So i conclude by saying journalism is still very important and should not be taken by granted because for every news there is we can always count on journalists to get the correct facts
media has moved the middle man dear. i find it fascinating how everything just blows up and go viral and we dont need journalists to do that with the amazing social media tools that we have, media has advanced in an incredible way long gone are the days of emailing journalists non stop we publish what we want and because we can create our own websites i don't see a need for journalists any more

ReplyDeleteI honestly think there is no space for journalists anymore. Social media allows for every individual to write, blog, share etc about what ever they want. Its much better and easier to log online and write our thought, advertise and pesuade, rather than a long process of building relationships with journalist to publish news that we want then to(which they occasionally don't) So on my opinion, I don't think there is gonna be space for journalist anymore as time goes by.

ReplyDeleteIf you may recall during the Oscar Pistorius trial, a journalist Barry Bateman was one of the active influencers who updated the public with new information, a random person did not do that. So for me is fair to say journalist are still effective although they now engage more on social media to publish news.

Deleteyes people may say journalist have no space in this new generation of social media reason being people turn up to be their own journalist via social media but you find that lot of these people stories are sometimes falls stories. journalist still do play a huge role when it come to deliverance because number one people need factual stories stories that are credible and trust worthy believe you me you wont find that to a person who is not a journalist hence that is why you find journalist who are on twitter, Facebook LinkedIn have lot i mean lots of followers because they know their business and that their are the only people who have credibility when it comes to delivering news

ReplyDeleteYes journalists are credible sources for information, they gather the correct facts and support those facts with their research findings. So no matter media or anything for credible information we will always rely on journalists.
